  135-3539_IMG.JPG  Dendrobates tinctorius "cobalt" juvenile. This was the longest-surviving of the three juvenile tincs I bought at the July \'05 show in Sacramento. In retrospect they were sold too small, I housed them in too large a facility at first, and they probably had parasites. It\'s filled up to about an inch below the top of the fern with dry moss. The saran wrap comes to about an inch away from the back, too. So, there is a \'dry area\' that doesn\'t get misted and has lots of air flow. It lets air flow up from the front (below the doors) and out the back and front at the top. Both frogs utilize this area from time to time.  D. leucomelas, female, at approx. 2 years old. The pair began to exhibit mating behavior at around this time.  The current state of the Leuc viv, just before draining. Water accumulates up to near the bottom vents, and I drain it manually using a siphon. I'm not really happy with the level of plant growth on the tree fern backing. The bottom is mostly leaf litter instead of moss or whatever, and the frogs seem to prefer that.
